The annual celebration of World Rural W omen’s Day is considered a practical way of obtaining recognition and support for the multitude of roles that rural women play, who are mostly farmers and small entrepreneurs.Rural Women represent over a quarter of the world’s population and greatly contribute to the well-being of their family and the development of rural economies. Because of their key role in food production and food security, it was decided that the World Rural W omen’s Day would fall on the 15th October, the day before World Food Day.
