Address by Mrs. Gia Gaspard Taylor – President of NRWPTT at THA Island-Wide Agricultural Programme Launch: March 8, 2024
The Network of Rural Women Producers of Trinidad and Tobago (NRWPTT) has been empowering rural women since 1995, focusing on economic and social well-being. Our training programs have expanded to include lifestyle elements and critical topics such as gender-based violence prevention and climate change adaptation.
Despite challenges, including the impact of COVID-19, we’ve adapted with blended in-person and online training. Our efforts have led to the transformation of many part-time ventures into sustainable businesses, reducing dependency on state aid and contributing to national GDP.
Collaborations with partners like the University of the West Indies and Purdue University have enriched our programs, while events like the Mango Festival showcase women’s entrepreneurship. We remain committed to promoting environmental, social, and governance practices, recognizing the vital role women play in our country’s development.
Thank you to the THA for championing women’s empowerment. Together, let’s inspire inclusion, invest in women, and accelerate progress.
Thank you.
