Our NRWPTT delegate, Sherina Supersad, continues to shine at the World Food Forum in Rome, Italy. As a Caribbean delegate, she is actively engaged in showcasing the NRWPTT’s significant agricultural projects, leveraging her international scholarships and awards, all tied to the Network’s affiliated institutions. We express our heartfelt wishes for her continued success during this pivotal event.
The forum’s central theme, “Agrifood systems transformation accelerates climate action,” underlines the urgency to reimagine our approach to the entire food production cycle. Despite the vast potential of agrifood systems to positively impact our lives, we have unfortunately allowed these systems to adversely affect our climate and environment.
In 2023, the World Food Forum (WFF) serves as a beacon of hope, uniting the voices of the youth, Indigenous Peoples, women, and individuals in vulnerable situations in fostering local action. The emphasis lies on promoting innovation, forging partnerships, relying on scientific evidence, and above all, ensuring inclusivity. With a focus on four thematic tracks—Youth Action, Innovation, Education, and Culture—the WFF is determined to drive collective action for the betterment of our food systems and the preservation of our planet.
Furthermore, the WFF flagship event, which encompasses the Global Youth Forum, the FAO Science and Innovation Forum, and the FAO Hand-in-Hand Investment Forum, seeks to pave the way for transformative solutions in agriculture. This comprehensive approach highlights the crucial interplay between generations, stressing the importance of science, technology, innovation, and strategic investments in the realm of food and agriculture.
Scheduled to take place from the 16th to the 20th of October at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Rome, Italy, as well as virtually, the week-long event serves as a pivotal platform for meaningful dialogue and collaboration among diverse stakeholders. With global participation from farmers, small-scale producers, policymakers, investors, scientists, and more, the collective goal remains steadfast: ensuring food security and shaping a sustainable future for all, leaving no individual or community behind.
Let us unite in this noble cause, taking concrete steps towards building a resilient and inclusive food future for generations to come. #WFF2023 #SustainableFuture #GlobalUnity.
